Drop Stomach Fat Fast - Tips to Keep You on Track

Do you need to drop stomach fat fast and are having a tough time continuing your new lifestyle? There are many reasons why people fall off the path. You may just get too busy to go work out or you may have the improper mindset. Sometimes in order to keep going with your efforts you need to simplify things. Obesity is becoming a big problem in the United States. However, it doesn't have to be a problem with you. Being persistent in your efforts is the key to success. Sometimes you just need to the extra push to sustain your efforts. Here are a couple of tips to help you.

First and foremost you have to remain positive. You have to remember that you don't have to be perfect at losing weight. If you slip up and do something that has a negative impact on your weight loss efforts, it could hurt your motivation quite possibly affect you in getting rid of that belly fat. So when that happens you have to look at all the good things your have done in your weight loss efforts. You'll have increased confidence to move forward.

The power of positive thinking will be a very effective weapon in your battle against weight loss. It can be the difference between moving forward with your weight loss regimen and failure. For example, if you eat one bad meal with 4 good meals during the day, you have two choices. The first choice is you could dwell on the bad meal, get depressed and go on the eating binge of a lifetime (which can be bad). Or the second choice is you can focus on the good things you did and still feel confident of your efforts and keep moving forward.

The next tip I would like to discus is you should always have your breakfast after you wake up. There are two reasons not to skip breakfast. One, is you keep your daily routine. Since most of us are creatures of habit, you don't want to break your daily routine or having a healthy breakfast. Two is a balanced breakfast to start your day will make you more alert in the morning so you can perform more efficiently.

So remember losing weight is a long term process and you may not get the results you want right away. Persistence is what pays off the best. So using the two tips above will hopefully help you continue moving forward with your efforts.

Diets DO Work for Weight Loss

Its so easy to screw up your weight loss plan with a bad diet.

I know, there are too many diets, but I believe some of them work. Why can't the experts agree on just one nutrition program?"

Well, first, let me say that I believe diets DO work, and that there are so many of them because we all have such different personalities and likes and dislikes for foods, that it really shouldn't come as a huge surprise that a bunch of different diets can work.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of extreme diets. I don't think you have to restrict yourself of carbohydrates. After all, that's never going to work if you've been raised to eat an apple and a banana everyday.

You can eat apples and bananas and oranges and still lose weight. Almost all foods can be incorporated into a healthy fat loss plan.

So I'm about to give you my preferred nutrition plan. It's not extreme. It's not crazy. It's not about denying you any healthy foods. You can eat meat, carbohydrates, and healthy fats on this program.

It's really all about eating whole, natural foods. In fact, I sometimes joke that my plan should be called the "dental floss diet", because almost every food in the plan requires you to floss after eating it (apples, nuts, meat, oranges, broccoli, etc., etc.).

So live a healthy lifestyle, eat whole, natural foods, and avoid fast food. Its that easy.

After all, there's a saying in the fitness industry, "you can't out-train a bad diet", and that hold's true almost 100% of the time (and especially as you get older).

Fortunately, I also believe that good nutrition for fat loss is very simple. And here are my 5 steps to building a fast fat burning diet.

1) Find out how much you are eating now. Use fitday.com.

2) If you are not losing weight, eat less.

3) Eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, and good protein sources. No more processed foods.

4) Give yourself one treat meal per week to look forward to - not a treat day, just a treat meal.

5) Plan ahead. On Saturday or Sunday, go to the store, buy all your food, and then cook it and freeze it for the week. You will avoid bad habits this way. Identify obstacles and come up with solutions to avoid them.

That is it.

Very simple. Most people do pretty well on 1-3 and even 5, but mess up on number 4. People cheat a lot more than they admit to me. You have to be honest with what you are eating. Track it for a few days. It could be shocking.

The little things can add up to big time problems. Record your diet.

And all of this can be avoided if you follow rule #5.

Find a good eating plan and use my workouts to get results.

Quick Weight Loss Tips

Weigh yourself daily, preferably first thing in the morning. You will weigh the least at this time which will encourage you and you will have the motivation to eat correctly if the weight is higher than you expected. By weighing each day you can keep a better handle on what causes you to gain weight and helps you cut back a little that day if you have gained some.

Make sure you're drinking at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day of water. If you drink coffee, make sure you drink extra water since coffee is a diuretic that will deplete the water in your body. One last thing to mention about water is to drink it 1/2 hour before a meal since water can dilute your meal and flush out the enzymes.

Toxins come into our bodies from water, air and our food. The fat cells in the body surround the toxins because they attach themselves to our organs. Fat cells are not going to leave the body unless the toxins leave and the only way to get toxins out is to use a program that will eliminate them. Ever wonder why we gain weight in our midsection right where our organs are? Ever wonder why it gets harder and harder to lose weight as we get older? Toxins and fat cells keep collecting more and more and don't leave the body. You'll be amazed how quickly and safely you can lose weight and inches if you use a program that gets rid of the toxins.

Stalled weight loss? You might want to try eating 4 small meals a day for a week instead of 3 to set your metabolism higher. Then when you're back to eating 3 meals focus on filling your plate over 1/2 way with vegetables (raw or cooked or a combination). Make sure you balance it with some protein. If you eat the vegetables first and then fill in with the protein you'll be surprised how full you will be when the meal is over.

Weight Loss Diets with Negative Calorie Foods

Negative calorie foods are said to use more calories to digest than the calorie content of the foods themselves, resulting in a negative calorie balance. It is therefore natural to consider a diet containing these foods for weight loss.

A diet is a combination of a balanced selection of foods designed for medical or nutritional reasons. A good diet should include all major food groups. The weight loss diets (with or without negative calorie foods) are made to reduce body fat and weight. Some of the popular weight loss diets are: Atkin's diet, cabbage soup diet, grapefruit diet, Hollywood diet, negative calorie foods diet, Pritikin diet, the South beach diet and the zone diet.

Most of the weight loss diets promote to eat a particular food group and restrict other food groups. Such diets may show temporary results. If you follow these restricted diets for a long time, you may develop some health problems at later stage as these diets do not contain all the necessary nutrients needed for your body.

The secret to losing weight is to eat and drink the right kind of foods until you are satisfied. Skipping of meals is not the answer for weight loss, it can rather deteriorate your health. A healthy weight loss diet plan should include vegetables, fruits, grains, lentils and beans in your diet. Following is a sample daily diet plan that is good for keeping healthy weight and good health, irrespective of whether you follow a diet plan with negative calorie foods or not.

- Skim milk and skim yogurt.
- Salads or boiled vegetables or vegetable soup as starter.
- Whole-wheat bread/tortila, whole grain cereal and rice.
- Whole grains like kidney beans, chick peas and lentils.
- Lightly cooked green vegetables.
- Any dessert with minimum sugar.
- Lean variety of meat (it is better to avoid).
- The dinner should be light. If you had bread for lunch then have rice for dinner.

Include as much negative calorie foods as possible in the above diet plan. If you are meat eater, choose from a lean variety and restrict to one serving in a day.

A diet with negative calorie foods as main ingredients can include foods that are loaded with carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers necessary for keeping you fit. The diet with negative calorie foods can be tailored for fast or gradual weight loss. The fast weight loss diet that can lower the weight up to two pounds per day, is not recommended for long term. The gradual weight loss diet can reduce one pound in a week and can be followed until desired weight is achieved. The diet can be made according to ones needs. The negative calorie foods will not give you much benefit if you are eating foods loaded with fats and sugars. If you eat a serving of potato fries, don't think that you can reduce the calories gained from fries by simply eating some negative calorie celery.

Hoodia Weight Loss Results From Three Real-Life Hoodia Success Stories

Finding real life hoodia success stories isn't hard to do. You can visit just about any website promoting or selling hoodia supplements and they'll have a testimonial page full of success stories from those who have tried hoodia. The problem is you never know if these hoodia success stories are real or not. Is the seller posting real testimonials or are they made up by the seller in a cheap attempt to get you to buy their product?

The best hoodia success stories are those that are covered by journalists who don't have an interest in selling you anything. With that in mind, I ran across an interesting story online by WAVE 3, a NBC television station in Louisville, KY. The television station recruited three regular people back in late February who were willing to try hoodia for a twelve week period. WAVE 3 monitored their progress and reported their results. The station recently revealed the final results of the twelve week trial.

The three participants lost an average of twelve pounds over the twelve week period. That's not all there is to tell in these hoodia success stories. In addition to losing an average of one pound per week, the participants didn't experience any negative side effects. They also noted that hoodia was much more than just a natural appetite suppressant. To them, it was a catalyst to a healthier state of mind.

This is great news to dieters who may be looking for a little help, but my only question about these hoodia success stories is what specifically were these participants doing during this twelve week period? How much hoodia were they taking each day? When were they taking it? Did they make any changes to their diet? Finally, did they exercise and if so, how much and how often? Unfortunately, none of these details were given in the story.

We are lead to believe that all this successful weight loss was the result of hoodia alone. Normally I'm suspicious of successful weight loss results from hoodia users when they say hoodia alone was the answer. The reason is because hoodia's role as part of an overall weight loss program is somewhat limited given that it only suppresses appetite. Dieters still have to do the heavy lifting such as maintaining a healthy diet and ideally, maintaining a regular exercise program. However, if these three participants did in fact lose an average of one pound per week on hoodia alone, I'm willing to accept it because that amount of weight isn't so great as not to be believable.

There are 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. To lose one pound of fat per week, you'd need to consume just 500 calories less per day or burn an additional 500 calories per day. It's very likely that an appetite suppressant could prevent you from eating 500 calories per day. For some that would mean skipping just one candy bar! If hoodia gordonii works as well as many dieters say it does, it's very likely that it could help you skip one or two unhealthy snacks per day at the very least.

Even without having a lot of details in these hoodia success stories, it still adds to the mounting evidence of the effectiveness of hoodia diet pills. Based on these latest hoodia success stories, hoodia diet pills just might be worth considering if you have a few extra pounds to lose.

Do you have a hoodia success story to tell or would like to read more hoodia success stories? Share your experiences and get inspired by others by visiting the hoodia forum at http://hoodiaandweightloss.com

Weight Loss: 10 Tips for the Average Joe

I began to do research into weight loss and pinpointed the things I was doing wrong in my first diet. There were certain things I had to learn in order to effectively lose weight and keep it off, here are 10 things you can do to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Healthy is a Lifestyle, not a Goal
This includes your diet and staying active, one of the first mistakes I made was to set a goal of losing a certain amount of weight then once I reach that goal to go back to my normal habits. I reached my targeted weight then stopped running 3 miles every other day and watching my diet, as soon as I went back to my bad habits I gained all of the weight back.

If you are not drinking enough water, you are wasting your time

I cannot emphasize this enough, I have tried this weight loss thing 3 times over the past two years and the only time I noticed a difference was when I began consuming a lot of water. I have gone as far as to run 3-4 miles a day and eat cabbage for lunch and had limited results, but now I maintain a balanced diet and have lost more weight than ever because I drink at least a gallon of water every day.

The general idea is to drink an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, at first it will seem like a lot at first and you will be running to the bathroom every 15 minutes but you are giving your body what it needs. When your body feels as if it is not getting enough water it will store the little bit it does get, that is where those love handles come from. Then the liver has to kick in and help the kidneys rather than its function of metabolizing the body and you are not burning off the food you consume like you should. So do yourself a favor, drink more water!

Have Fun!
Working out is useless if you are not enjoying yourself, there are a plethora of activities that you can do to keep yourself in shape. I personally cannot STAND running on treadmills so I only run outdoors. I enjoy lifting weights because of the feeling and the confidence I get from the results but lets take it a step further; If there is a sport you enjoy then there is no better workout, I am a football junkie and since I never played I figured hey.. why not join a flag football league and see what I can really do?

The result: I have lost 5lbs since I started the league, 5lbs that I have been struggling to get rid of and I feel like I am in high school all over again.

It's okay to use your Imagination
As pathetic as this may sound, when I work out in my mind I am training for the NFL, I even know what position I am training for. (running back) It may sound dumb but it makes me train hard and keeps me motivated. Figure out what motivates you, is it that guy or girl at work that you would like to notice you? Take it 88 yards to the end zone like Reggie Bush? Explode to the basket and finish like Lebron James? Forget reality, use your mind and let that motivate you and I guarantee you will be satisfied with the results.

You do not have to be a Nutrition Nazi
As I stated before I was eating cabbage for lunch, barely taking in 1200 calories a day and running miles.. I was hurting my weight loss goals more than I was achieving them. Not only does this work against you but its unhealthy and just plain stupid.

What do I do now that allowed me to lose 25lbs? I eat realistically, there is no way I could maintain a 1200 calorie diet over a long period of time. Now I eat lean meats high in protein such as grilled or baked chicken and periodically Salmon. (hey I am running a business here) Some days I eat more than others, I basically listen to what my body tells me and if I over eat then I know I need to work out that much harder. About every week or two I splurge and may eat an entire pizza or a big dinner and strangely my body responds positively.. it loves it and in a day or so I burn it off plus some. A couple of other tips on nutrition:

Do not eat after 7pm - your metabolism slows down significantly later in the evening

High Protein Diet - It works, I do not know why but it just does so take my word for it.

Breakfast, Never Skip it - Never EVER EVER skip breakfast! I just said your metabolism slows down significantly later in the day, well if you skip breakfast it will be that slow from the beginning of the day.

Sugar, cut it out! - Replace soda and Fruit Juice with water, you will cut your caloric intake significantly, put the sweets down and if you must have it then snack on fruits like Strawberries, Grapes, Bananas, etc.

Fried Foods - I'll keep it simple, do not touch them. If you eat out a lot avoid the french fries.

Cardiovascular Disease and Weight Loss

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an umbrella term covering disorders of the heart and blood vessels. It includes coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, and hypertension (high blood pressure). Overweight, lack of exercise, stress, and a high-fat diet are major contributing factors to all CVD.

Coronary artery disease: In order to supply the rest of the body with blood, the heart muscle needs oxygenated blood itself. It gets it from the coronary arteries located on the outside wall of the heart. When one or more of these arteries are narrowed, blood flow is restricted or may be halted altogether. The result is coronary artery disease, the major underlying cause of heart attack.

One sign that the heart muscle is not getting enough oxygen are the chest pains of angina. This type of chest pain usually occurs during activity and is relieved by rest.

Atherosclerosis: This is a condition in which fatty deposits build up on the inside of arterial walls. As the arteries narrow, they cannot carry sufficient blood to the tissues. To compensate, the heart pumps harder, blood pressure increases, and many parts of the body are damaged as a result. Everything from poor circulation in the limbs to heart attack and stroke can be blamed on atherosclerosis.

Some people are more prone to atherosclerosis than others, but there is no question that a highfat diet is a major contributor. People who are overweight, lead a sedentary lifestyle, and have high cholesterol levels are at much increased risk for developing atherosclerosis.

High blood pressure: Also called hypertension, high blood pressure is a condition in which the pressure exerted by blood as it is pumped through the arteries is consistently higher than normal. Normally, blood pressure at rest should not be greater than 120/80. Blood pressure is considered high if it is repeatedly and persistently higher than 140/90.

High blood pressure can damage the arteries, heart, and other organs, including the kidneys and the eyes. It increases the risk for heart attack, coronary artery disease, a stroke, kidney failure, and loss of sight due to damage to the retina. Hypertension is more common in men than women, and the incidence increases with age.

Being overweight is one of the most important risk factors for high blood pressure. People who are 20 percent overweight are eight times more likely to have high blood pressure than people of normal weight.

When your blood pressure is taken, the compression cuff on your arm causes a column of mercury to rise in a metered column. Two measurements are taken: the systolic reading is blood pressure at its highest, when the heart muscle contracts; the diastolic reading is blood pressure at its low point, when the heart muscle relaxes. In a blood pressure reading of 120/80, for example, the higher number (120) is systolic, the lower (80) is diastolic. Cardiovascular disease

Organic Food - Can It Help Relieve Obesity?

What is not so commonly known is that organic food can actually help relieve obesity as part of your weight loss regime. Eating organic food also means you will be giving your body a greater quantity of essential nutrients, especially if you steam your vegetables.

Conventional food contains many chemicals and your body has to deal with these and dispose of them in order to avoid poisoning your system. Most of this work is undertaken by your liver, a very key organ that can make or break your weight loss attempts.

The liver is the powerhouse of your body and is also the largest burner of fat too. However to be at its most efficient your need to make sure you feed it properly. By this I mean that you need to make sure you are eating enough fibre and limit the intake of toxic chemicals both in the form of food and alcohol.

As you probably know fibre helps your digestive system in that it consists of indigestible matter that passes out of your body. This essential function carries with it many of the toxins and waste products from your body that you need to get rid of daily.

Fibre helps ensure a speedy exit of these waste products think of it as cleaning out your pipework!

Fibre also helps to ensure that your liver efficiently rids itself of toxins and gives it less opportunity to store them as fatty deposits.

If you load your body with too much fat, additives and poisonous chemicals then what usually happens is that the parts your body cannot dispose of are stored as fat until and when, your body can get round to dealing with them and clearing them out.

This can lead to fat deposits all around your body but most worryingly can lead to a condition called fatty liver.

A tired, toxic liver is the number one reason why many peoples weight-loss attempts are floored.

You have to make sure your essential organs are operating at peak efficiency to make the most gain in your weight loss attempts and this means eating good quality food, preferably raw and free of added chemicals, which makes organic food a good choice.

Remember that conventional manufacturers deliberately add synthetic chemicals to processed foods to increase their shelf life and pesticides and hormones to farm produce to boost their crop volumes.

You dont want to be eating too much of that type of produce as the chemicals they contain will definitely affect your liver and digestive system performance, probably making you actually put on weight in the form of the stored fatty deposits I mentioned earlier.

Organic food can help in that you reduce the number of toxic chemicals entering your body which in turn reduces the stress on your digestive system and its fat production.

This should help make for a leaner thinner you.

Weight Training With A Weight Loss Goal

In a weight loss, or fat loss phase as I prefer to call it, weight training is considered a very important ingredient to the equation. The main emphasis of weight training in the fat loss phase is maintenance of muscle tissue.

Muscle tissue shapes and forms the contours of the body. I'm not saying you can change the shape of a muscle because that's physically impossible. It does, however, have a discernable shape that is reflected on the male or female body. So, if all emphasis were placed on cardiovascular or energy system development (ESD), as I call it, there would definitely be some muscle wasting going on.

This causes a loss in shape or lack of shape improvement when in a weight loss phase. Muscle is considered the primary indicator of metabolism. Basically, it single handedly determines how many calories the body burns. So if you lose muscle through exercise or dieting, you burn fewer calories through daily processes.

So, in a weight loss training program, we want to maintain or even add muscle to our frame through proper exercise prescription. The use of compound movements needs to be emphasized. This includes, but is not limited to, various forms of: squats ,deadlifts , pulls and pushes. Specific examples would be barbell squats, barbell bench press, chin ups, etc.

The frequency of weight training can vary, but keep in mind that maintenance of muscle tissue is the goal. The majority of training should be based on ESD. Weight workouts should include circuit training, supersets, tri sets, etc. to burn up energy and/or stimulate growth hormone which has been linked to fat mobilization and usage. Still, one session of the week should be devoted to lifting as heavy a weight as possible in good form. This is the most important lifting session of the week as far as muscle is concerned in a weight loss phase. By placing an overload on the system, the body has little choice but to hold onto that energy consuming tissue called muscle.

Repetitions for all lifts during each training session are going to be highly individual to the trainee. Beginners and women need to use a higher repetition range due to having less neurologically efficient central nervous systems. Basically, this means they aren't able to use as much muscle per repetition as someone with more experience. Both populations obviously improve with training. Intermediate and advanced trainees, on the other hand, need to use lower ranges. The one exception is when growth hormone or lactate producing workouts are to be performed. For this type of workout the range needs to be from 12-20.

One quick side note. Women shouldn't be afraid to lift heavy weights. I see it all the time at every gym I've ever been to. Lots of cardio and very little weight training. Most women need to get stronger. The concern of getting "big, bulky muscles" is so outdated it makes me sick. If you sit and worry about getting these "big, bulky muscles", consider all the men out there who are doing everything they know to get "big, bulky muscles" and are having a hard time achieving that. Men have a distinct advantage, with few exceptions from the female population, in stimulating muscle growth. The hormone, testosterone, is one of the main factors in this process. Women produce much less of it and therefore have a harder time adding muscle mass. I'm not saying women can't add muscle, it just might take a little longer or be a little harder to accomplish. Now make the necessary changes in your program and get started!
