Cabbage Soup Diet - Cruciferous Cabbage Can Kill Cancer Cells

Aside from its role in the Cabbage Soup Diet, cabbage also plays an important part in fighting against Cancer. Cancer is one of the primary causes of the increasing mortality rate in the world. It affects everyone - the rich and the poor, the young and the old, men, women, and children alike.

Although cancer is mainly hereditary, we can still do ways to avoid it. One of which is consuming cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cabbage.

Researches and Studies in Cabbages

In the National Cancer Research Conference held recently in Britain, a study was conducted and presented that green leafy vegetables such as cabbage and Brussels sprout contain a certain compound - indole-3-carbinol (I3C) - that can be used to kill cancer cells, most especially when used in combination with the chemotherapy drugs. The indole group of sulfur compounds binds to the chemical carcinogens and stimulates enzymes that will detoxify those carcinogens. The I3C found in cabbages appear to have the effects on estrogen metabolism, helping prevent breast cancer. Such compound is also significant in preventing or retarding cancer of the prostate.

A study was also conducted by the Netherlands Cohort on Diet and Cancer. The study revealed that those eating the most vegetables gained a 25% drop in their colorectal risk. However, those who consumed the most cruciferous vegetables benefited a 49% lower risk for colorectal cancer.

Cabbages Fight Against Cancer

In Singapore, a study found that in non-smokers, regular consumption of cruciferous vegetables reduced lung cancer risk by 30%. Meanwhile, a 69% drop in lung cancer risk was found with the smokers.

A research which was published in the International Journal of Cancer has proven that cabbages, along with other cruciferous vegetables, can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer.

Crucifers' well-known properties in fighting against cancer are thought to have resulted from their great levels of active phytochemicals known as glucosinolates. These phytochemicals are metabolized by our bodies into powerful and rather effective anti-carcinogens known as isothiocyanates.

Proven Benefits of Cabbages

Studies, both in humans and animals, have consistently shown that diets that are high in cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, are associated with lower occurrence of a variety of cancer.

With the 94 studies that have shown the relationship between Brassica or cruciferous vegetables and cancer, 70% of the studies revealed that cabbage consumption was more associated with a lower risk of cancer, especially of the stomach, colon, and lung.

The protective benefits of cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables were even more evident in three groups typically at higher risk for cancer: smokers, men, and older individuals who aged at least 64. Consuming half of a head of cabbage everyday or very large amounts of other cruciferous vegetables is what it would take for you to have the kind of health risk reduction that you are searching for.

And to get the most benefit and advantage from your cruciferous vegetables, most especially the cabbages, ensure that you choose organically grown vegetables because their phytonutrients levels are primarily higher than those cabbages that are conventionally grown. Lightly steam your cabbages as this method of cooking retains the most phytonutrients and maximizes their availability.

Fast Weight Loss Diets - 3 to Choose From

Fast weight loss diets are not for the faint of heart. They're not based on balanced eating plans. You shouldn't exert yourself when you're on one because they can put stress on your body. And you should never stay one for more than a week. Most important of all though, BEFORE you launch one of the diets promising fast weight loss, visit your doctor and get medical advice. Here are three of the most popular fast weight loss diets:

The Three Day Diet is the simplest of the three diets. It consists of an exact menu for three days. Each breakfast is one small amount of protein, one starch, and one fruit. On one day you'll have an egg, 1/2 of a banana, a piece of toast, and black coffee.

Lunch is even less. It's a small amount of protein and a starch. For one lunch you're recommended to have 1/2 cup tuna and a piece of toast along with your black coffee. Dinner is a little different. You will have a larger serving of protein, 2 servings of vegetables, a fruit, and a cup of regular vanilla ice cream. I personally think it's also one of the strangest diets.

However, there are more of these diets that also have their quirks. One is the Chicken Soup Diet. This is based on a complex recipe for chicken soup. You get some choices of different breakfasts, and then you eat as much soup as you want the rest of the day. One breakfast for the Chicken Soup Diet might be Total cereal, nonfat milk, and juice. A different one would be yogurt, fruit, and wheat germ. When it comes to diets for fast weight loss, with the exception of breakfast this one has zero variety and is boring.

The Grapefruit Diet is one of the most intricate of the 3 fast weight loss diets. There's a lot to remember, and it's all considered important. For instance, there's a certain amount of grapefruit or other specified juice to eat with each meal. You're warned not to eat more or less than what's suggested. Otherwise, it's said the diet will not work.

Also, you're not allowed to take anything away from the diet. If you don't want to eat two slices of bacon with your breakfast - too bad. They claim you won't burn fat if you don't adhere precisely to the diet, including eating the bacon. Hmmm.

A diet like this is hard to understand.

You're also advised to drink 8 eight-ounce glasses of water every day, but only 1 cup of coffee at a meal. Butter can be used as a condiment, or to fry foods. You're only allowed to eat at meal time; no snacking except the beverage at bedtime. You're given two lists: one of foods you can eat and one of foods you cannot eat. Yet, on this "accelerated" weight loss diet you're encouraged to eat until you're full at any meal. Again I say...hmmm.

You're warned not to eat certain foods at the same time they claim the more you eat (of the "allowed" foods), the more you fat you burn. Breakfast on this diet is grapefruit, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon slices. That's the basic guideline however; they also indicate you can eat as much eggs and bacon as you wish. Is this also confusing to you?

Lunch is grapefruit, salad, and meat. Dinner is grapefruit, meat, and a salad or vegetable. You get a bedtime snack of tomato juice or nonfat milk. Yippee! Let's face it - you'll be hungry regardless which of the diets you try. They're extremely restrictive with very, very little food variety. Speaking for myself, that usually means I'll not only be miserable but my chances of sticking to it - even for a short time - are pretty slim. (Pun intended)

And doing fast weight loss diets like this can get complicated. If you do participate in one, please be careful. They may not be safe. And definitely consult with your doctor.

Fat Loss Wars - Machines Versus Bodyweight Exercises

Here's why you don't need machines. They are expensive, take up a lot of space, and are no better than the cheap ol' bodyweight you are carrying around. Just use your bodyweight for fat loss and cardio exercise. You'll get more fat loss results in less time and with less cost.

Let's talk about bodyweight exercise alternatives--can people really
get a good fat burning workout just using their bodyweight and a
set of dumbbells?

The answer is yes.

They don't need fancy machines or expensive gym memberships?

No.

There's nothing magical about machines. And to be honest with you,
machines are only designed for the "average sized" person. So if
you are short or tall, you are really out of luck.

If you train at home, or on the road while traveling for business,
you're not going to have access to fancy equipment. You might have
to "get by" with only dumbbells and your bodyweight.

But since you only have a short amount of time to workout, say 3
sessions of 45 minutes per workout per week, it is a big help if we
can pair dumbbell and bodyweight exercises together in our
workouts.

(Hey, I've tried training a client on a Bowflex...and we spent more
time trying to set-up the machine for different exercises than he
did using it. Eventually we got him to get a set of powerblocks to
avoid the hassle.)

On the other hand, there are dozens of bodyweight exercises we can
use for bodysculpting for the lower body, abs, and upper body that
require no set-up at all.

Some of my favorite bodyweight exercises are...

a) Spiderman Pushups

b) Any single leg exercise (from single-leg squats, to split
squats, to the many types of step-ups I use, to all the lunges you
can think of)

c) Total body ab exercises (I try to avoid crunching motions -
bodyweight crunches are limited in effectiveness, so I prefer to
use total body ab exercises like mountain climbers)

d) Close-grip Pushups (these work arms better than any
triceps kickback ever will)

e) Single-leg Squats & lying 1-leg hip extensions for legs

f) Chin-ups for arms (and there's even a really cool way for men
and women to do assisted chin-ups if they are just starting out on
this exercise, and I'm not talking about those expensive, gigantic
assisted pull-up machines)

One of the best uses of bodyweight exercises are in fat burning
bodyweight circuits. These circuits are a great replacement for
regular cardio and even for intervals.

Take 3 upper body bodyweight exercises and alternate them with 3
lower body bodyweight exercises. Rest 1 minute and repeat 3-5 times
for a 20 minute bodyweight workout. Bodyweight exercises are great
for all us desk jockeys, because it improves our mobility and
reduces upper body tension.

Bodyweight training gives you fast fat loss, at no cost, and
without the need for a 2nd garage in your house to store all the
equipment. You can take your bodyweight workouts outside in the
summer, on the road when you travel, and even on holidays so that
you don't miss a workout.

Don't waste a single second in the gym,

One Day Miracle Diet

One Day Miracle Diet as dieticians put it is a suitable diet program for gourmet buffs. This cholesterol lowering diet plan is quite simple you diet for a day and eat full the next day and continue this routine until you feel that you have lost enough weight. It is also called the 24 hour Hollywood Miracle Diet.

During the dieting day, refrain from eating any other food than vanilla (every two hours) or chocolate diet wafers and raw fruits. Also, make it a point to drink lots of water (ideally 8 glasses of water or above). It is also advisable to follow a light exercise routine for better results. Walking short distances will serve the purpose.

The biggest advantage with one day cholesterol lowering diet programs is that the person undergoing dieting will not suffer any muscle loss. This is partially because of the high protein and low calorie content of the wafers, and partially due to the fact that the dieting person actually in fact is not completely severed from his/her eating habits. He/she can have any food he/she wants the every next day.

On the other hand, the disadvantage with the cholesterol lowering diet program is that it does not contribute towards improving ones eating habits. That is, as it does not suggest an improved diet, the chances of the person regaining the weight due to normal eating after stopping the diet program are high. Also, nutritional deficiency can happen sometimes depending on the physical aspects of the person concerned.

To conclude, cholesterol lowering diet programs of this sort can bring about quick results. Further, as the person is not restricted from his normal diet for more than 24 hours, people will be more inclined to try out this diet program. But the con is that perhaps people may resort to eating more after the one-day deprival. Hence ones control over his/her eating impulse is critical for ensuring complete success.

Tail Piece some dieticians tout this cholesterol lowering diet program to be more effective than the traditional tuna and egg diet.

We made the most comprehensive research on diets and weight loss programs. Find the results only on the One day miracle diet guide.

Easy Weight Loss - Take Control Of Your Bad Habits

We have all heard people say thing like, "Hey, I'm on a diet," or "I'm going on a diet." Of course, doctors don't talk this because they know that really everyone is on a diet. A diet is simply what you eat.

There are two aspects of traditional weight loss diets that are worth commenting on.

First, when you are going on a diet plan, you actually think about what you are going to eat and take control of that particular activity. You know to plan ahead so you don't have to simply eat what's there or not eat at all. Planning when and how we eat is something we should all do all of the time, even when we are not trying to lose weight.

Secondly, most people think of dieting as a temporary break from their normal eating habits when, in reality, this second assumption is what leads to so much of what is wrong in the entire diet culture. If you accept your diet as temporary, then you will likely go back to your old habits right after you have seen the slightest results.

Here's the best tip I can give you: You have to change the way you eat everyday, and it's not easy. But it is possible to create a diet that still allows you to enjoy what you eat and eat the foods you love. You just need to put together a creative diet that works for you everyday, and learn to stick to it!

Do you want to get rid of those extra pounds you packed on? Although they sure did not pile on overnight, you'd like to get rid of them overnight, wouldn't you? Have you had enough? Are you ready to do something about it? Change your thinking and you can change your body. Your Weight Loss success story can start today! Click Here to get started! 10 Killer Tips for Rapid Weight Loss

In order to make the most of your weight loss program, finding the most effective ways to burn fat will maximize your results and minimize your waistline! Follow these 10 tips for fat burning if you want to lose weight and lead a healthier way of life.

1.) Drink More Water

One of the best weight loss secrets is to ditch the sodas and stick to water! Experts say you should drink approximately eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and healthy. Instead of turning to calorie-laden or sugar-rich drinks, grab a refreshing glass of water. In addition to flushing toxins out of your system, drinking water encourages you to build muscle.

2.) Eat More Meals

A traditional three-meals-a-day plan just will not cut it if you are in the market to burn fat. Your body is not able to metabolize large meals and will quickly turn any excess into fat. Many experts believe you should eat six small meals a day. Be sure you cut back on your food consumption at each meal, or else you will be doubling your intakeand doubling your fat storage!

3.) Work Out with Weights

One great way to maximize the amount of fat you are burning is to add a weight program to your work out routine. Weight training will not only tone your physique, but will strengthen your body and improve your general health. Lifting weights will also burn calories and fat more quickly than traditional exercising, and it will also boost your metabolism.

4.) Choose Protein

Choose protein-laden foods for boosting your metabolism and enabling your body to burn fat rapidly. In addition to burning fat, consuming a protein-enriched diet will help you rebuild muscle after work outs and maintain leanness of that muscle. Wisely choose proteins for your diet. Take great care to pick proteins low in fat so you do not consume extra calories.

5.) Cut Calories Wisely

It may be tempting to drastically cut your calorie intake when starting a healthy lifestyle. Instead, use a step method when cutting your calorie intake to minimize risk. Reducing calories too quickly results in your body rapidly burning all available calories, which will lower your metabolism. Furthermore, you are more likely to maintain your healthy lifestyle through this step method.

6.) Reward Yourself

When it comes to successfully dieting to burn the most fat, be sure to reward yourself. Everyone has temptations and favorite treatsso allow indulgence. You will be less likely to cheat on your new diet if you grant yourself small rewards. If you are a chocolate lover, treat yourself to a small square of chocolate or single chocolate kiss each evening.

7.) Avoid Marathon Work Outs

The biggest mistake people make when looking to burn fat and lose weight is to have one long, extensive work out session. Instead, break up your work out plan into small chunks throughout the day. Take a brisk walk in the morning, enjoy a work out at lunch, and then exercise more in the evening. In addition to staying active all day long, breaking up your work out will better maintain your metabolism.

8.) Mix It Up

Choosing to engage in a variety of quality exercises will keep your interest and best allow you to maintain your goal of burning fat. Instead of doing the same exercises each daymix it up! Opt to swim laps one day, jog another, and bike the next. Rotating your activities will not only allow you to experience a variety of athletics, it will also allow you to better tone your body.

9.) Skip Happy Hour

For those individuals who want to burn fat quickly, avoid alcohol. Rich in sugars and carbohydrates, alcohol is a calorie-rich substance. These empty calories can add up quickly and take away from necessary nutrients that should be included in your daily diet. Furthermore, alcohol acts as an inhibitor for burning fat, allowing your body to store it more quickly.

10.) Try a Low GI Diet

A low GI diet is an excellent method of burning fat quickly. This diet encourages individuals to consume high amounts of foods with low rankings on the Glycemic Index. These foods are nutritious and will aid your body in burning fats and calories at a quicker pace. This diet includes many of your favorite fruits, vegetable, meats, dairy, and grain products.

Eat Fat - Lose Weight! The Incredible Oils That Actually Aid Weight Loss!

The notion of healthy fats is becoming increasingly acknowledged. The idea that some fats may actually help you loose weight however, is a little further-fetched, and yet It appears this seeming paradox is indeed the case. As will be explored, both coconut oil and omega-3 oil can speed up metabolism and accelerate the burning of fats in the body.

Distinguishing between fats is imperative for optimum health and weight. Saturated animal fats are notoriously linked to obesity, heart disease and cancer. Hydrogenated fats as found in chocolates, baked products and margarines are even worse and contain trans fats, the most harmful fats of all. Refined cooking oils are also detrimental, with harsh processing methods altering oil molecules and creating toxins and free radicals.

Natural cold-pressed oils such as nut, seed, olive and fish oils, contain healthy essential fatty acids, monounsaturated fats, nutrients and phytochemicals that serve the body.

Coconut oil is also supremely healthy; a saturated fat structurally different from animal saturated fats containing medium-chain as opposed to long-chain fatty acids. These molecules are small enough to be absorbed directly into the liver and used as an immediate source of energy by the body. They place no strain on the digestive system and their availability for metabolism means they are not likely to be stored as fat (unlike high-calorie cholesterol-heavy long-chain animal fats).

Coconut oil has a plethora of noted health benefits. It houses lauric acid, an antimicrobial fatty acid that fights bacteria, viruses and fungi. Some more surprising benefits include an ability to lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and actually stimulate weight loss. It has also been found to benefit conditions such as diabetes, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, digestive disorders and thyroid imbalances.

Dr. Weston A Price, the Darwin of nutrition writes: Replacing the fats you now eat with coconut oil may be the wisest decision you can make to lose excess body fatYes, there is a dietary fat that can actually help you take off unwanted pounds. Coconut oil can quite literally be called a low-fat fat.

In the 1940s farmers discovered that attempts to fatten up their animals with coconut oil produced the opposite effect; they became leaner and more active. Ironically, with the demand for leaner meat today, they are now using coconut oil for this exact purpose.

Raymond Peat MD, author of Coconut Oil and Its Virtues concludes, The anti-obesity effect of coconut oil is clear in all of the animal studies, and in my friends who eat it regularly.

Omega-3 oil is another virtuous fat that can actually speed up the burning of fats in the body and hence aid weight loss. Omega-3 oil serves numerous bodily processes and is particularly beneficial to the immune system and heart as well as arthritis, skin conditions, pre-menstrual tension, mental function, improving memory and reducing depressive symptoms.

One of the main reasons omega 3 oil increases fat metabolism is because of its effects on insulin, significantly reducing its levels in the body. Insulin inhibits the enzyme lipase which breaks down fat for use as energy and activates an enzyme that converts carbohydrate into fat. Insulin promotes the use of fat for storage and reduces the use of fat for fuel, hence lower insulin levels mean a greater conversion of fat for energy rather than storage.

Omega-3 oil is found in cold-water fish such as sardines, salmon, herring and mackerel as well as plant sources such as flax seeds (the richest plant source), walnuts, pumpkin seeds, mustard seeds, green-leafed vegetables and spirulina.

What If You Gained 10 Pounds This Weekend?

I always marvel at the reports I get from men and women who claim to have gained 10 pounds over a weekend. In truth, this is next to impossible. It doesn't matter how much you try to pig out, you just couldn't gain 10 pounds of fat in a weekend. Not even 5 pounds. Nor 3. Maybe 1, but no more.

So despite how much weight you worry you are going to gain this Easter weekend, the truth is, it's tough to actually gain pounds of fat in a weekend.

Take for example the traditional notion that there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. To even gain 3 pounds of fat over a weekend, you'd need to consume an extra 10,500 calories. Now that's tough. In fact, that's about the number of calories in 19 Big Mac's.

Now please tell me you don't eat 19 Big Mac's in a weekend?

If you do, then you have trouble. Plus, that doesn't take into account the 1500-2000 calories a normal person burns each day. So over a 3 day weekend, you'd have to throw another 10 Big Macs into your diet to gain the 3 pounds in one weekend for our example. So let me know how eating 29 Big Macs in 3 days turns out.

I really hope no one tries that!

Also, take a look at this study. Researchers from Virginia State University gave men an extra 1000 calories per day for 8 weeks. For most people, that would be a tough challenge to eat that many extra calories unless they were eating all types of junk food.

By the end of the 8 week study, the men gained an extra 11 pounds. That's 11 pounds after 8 weeks of "pigging out", not just a weekend where they went to the Outback Steakhouse and had a "Blooming Onion".

Reference: Obesity 15:3005-3012 (2007)

What most people see on the scale after a weekend of "road trip eating" is just an increase in fluid retention due to the high-sodium and high-carbohydrate diet, as well as some fat (but certainly not 10 pounds of it in only 48 hours).

So the next time you get off track with your weekend eating and are shocked to discover that you've gained 10 pounds, just take a deep breath and realize that is not an accurate measurement of the real damage.

If you get off track, just focus on getting back in charge of your nutrition, sticking to whole, natural foods, and cutting out the high-sodium, high-carbohydrate processed snacks. This shouldn't be too hard, because you'll probably feel terrible from the weekend's junk food.

In addition to returning to fruits, vegetables, nuts, and protein for your meals during the week, make sure to add three total body resistance training workouts and 3 interval cardio workouts to help you burn fat and return to your normal weight.

Start with a bodyweight warm up, then do resistance training supersets to boost your metabolism, and then finish the workout with fat burning interval training.

If you do that, you'll lose weight, not gain fat!

Do Calorie Shifting Diets Result In Weight Loss?

The calorie shifting method of dieting is currently enjoying a massive increase in users. A staggeringly high amount of great feedback given by those that have used the method seems to be behind this. No diet works for everyone, but does this one have a better chance than any other or is it just another fad.

The way the diet differs from most diets that exist is that it focuses on shifting calories rather that drastically lowering your calorie intake. This basically means that the type of foods you eat changes on a daily basis.

The reason it works is because by shifting the foods you eat your body fails to recognize that you are on a diet. This keeps your metabolism working at a good rate. Other diets fail for the good reason that they fail to stop your body from sensing you are on a diet, which in turn slows down your metabolism and starts to store your fat instead of burning it.

The calorie shifting diet also has benefits apart from its shifting calories technique. The fact that you eat 4 meals a day definitely helps to prevent snacking and breaking your diet. You also never feel uncontrollable cravings for anything as you know that after every 11 days you get 3 full days to eat what you please.

Anyone that is looking for a weight loss program they may not have previously considered then I would highly recommend giving a calorie shifting diet a try. Results don't lie and you can find great feed back on any weight loss forum so why not give it a try the next time you are considering a weight loss program.

If you have tried other diets and failed then why not try a Calorie Shifting Diet. To find out more about shifting calories and the diets using the method click here.

The Weighty Matter

Just thought I would talk a little about a topic that some of us get so focused on while we are achieving a healthy body weight.

When you step on the scale in the mornings what do you see? How do you interpret that NUMBER?

Some people see the scale as THE ANSWER to how we are progressing, lets face it people we get on it and if we see we have lost some weight we get much more confidence right? But if we gain we get upset, if we stay the same we feel good that we have not gained or lost.

We must focus on a term called lean body mass and body fat percentage. Let me explain what lean body mass is, its simply the sum of the weight of our bones, muscles and organs... basically the sum of everything other than fat in your body. Our body fat percentage is just that its the percentage of body fat we have on our bodies.

So saying the above we need to ask ourselves this, if this is what we need to track to see our progress in a better picture why doesnt measuring body weight do the job? Well to be honest our habits are our best progress reporters, when you step on that scale and have gained a few pounds ask your self these questions.

Have I been eating healthy consistently?

Have I been doing aerobic exercise consistently?

Have I been doing strength training consistently?

If all of these questions have been answered and your answers are YES to all of them, rest assured that youre on the right track to a lean body for life.

What is happening is you are creating more muscle mass thus getting leaner as a result your lean body mass increases and your body fat percentage lowers over time.

The focus should not be on body weight. Instead focus on creating good healthy habits, check your lean body mass, body fat percentage and the consistency of your exercise habits.

A measurement routine would be as follows: body weight measurement, body fat % reading, waist measurement and lean body mass calculation, these should be done every 2 weeks or better yet on a monthly basis.

Below is a lean body mass formula to calculate your lean body mass

- Let's say you're a 130 pound woman with 23% body fat

- Initial body fat: 130 pounds x 0.23 fat = 30 pounds of body fat

- Lean body mass: 130 pounds total 30 pounds of fat = 100 pounds of lean body mass

Doing this will assure you a healthier, leaner body and ultimately help you achieve a healthier body weight over time.

Below are some guidelines on body fat percentages we should aim for.

Body fat percentage standards: For women, 15 to 20 percent is considered lean, 20 to 25 percent is normal, 26 to 32 percent is overfat and 33 percent or higher is obese. For men, 8 to 12 percent is considered lean, 13 to 19 percent is normal, 20 to 24 percent is over fat and 25 percent or higher is obese.

There is a message to all of you thin people, dieting without strength training can leave you with a high body fat percentage. It's possible to appear thin, but have a high percentage of body fat, in this case your are considered to be a thin fat person and I think no one wants that right?

Happy Strength Training Everyone!

Lose Weight With Hoodia Supplements

Studies have shown that weight loss pills made from the Hoodia Gordinii plant can successfully suppress appetite. These pills are very popular nowadays and have been used by lots of people around the world with great success.

Hoodia suppresses the appetite by making the brain think you have already eaten. This way you will want to eat less, making you lose weight. The effect of this plant truly is remarkable. You will still feel hungry, especially when you have eaten very little, just a lot less. This is not a meal replacement product so you will still have to eat.

The Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert have been using the hoodia plant since ancient times. They use it to stop feeling hunger during their hunting trips. The Bushmen also use the plant as a treatment for various diseases including indigestion, tuberculosis and others.

Hoodia gordonii pills and extracts are a great alternative to prescribed weight loss medications. Hoodia does not have any known side effects and is purely natural. You can easily buy hoodia pills online and have them delivered straight to your door.

Unfortunately the popularity of hoodia supplements also come with its negative effects. Lots of fake hoodia products have appeared on the market. This is why you should only buy them at reputable sites or stores. Ask for proof that they are really selling true hoodia. It is very easy to get scammed.

While Hoodia products are very helpful they will not make you lose weight by themselves. If you want to truly be successful at weight loss you will have to combine the Hoodia supplement with a good diet and exercise program.

To find out how you can lose 10, 20 or even 30 pounds or more using hoodia visit http://www.eguidesonline.com/hoodia/

Expert Trainer Gives You 3 Ways to Lose More Fat

Once you get in the zone, burning fat can be very easy. I know, easier said than done, right? But maybe you just don't have the right tips and tricks in your arsenal to help you get started on the right foot.

So here are three of the most important things you need to be doing to get your fat burning workout program started properly.

1) Use Fitday to figure out your food intake.

You can't just "wing it". You can't "eyeball" your food intake, as research shows that even nutritionists underestimate how much food they are eating.

If you don't know whats going down your throat each day, you are going to eat way too much food and never burn the fat. If you aren't losing fat, it's a simple numbers game. You are eating too much. And if you know your numbers, its easy to make the necessary changes.

As one client said on the message boards...

"Ok, I input all my meals on Fitday yesterday, including 2 cheats that I didn't think were a big deal. One was a handful of trail mix and the other was a handful of goldfish crackers. (yes, I have kids :-) ) I can't believe how just those two seemingly harmless snacks added up!! No wonder I have a muffin top! Yikes! So thanks for the tip about Fitday because that's going to keep me accountable."

The little things add up so quickly! You'll be amazed when you finally start counting your calories that you will often be far above your recommended intake.

A little bit here and a little bit there is all that is needed to sabotage your efforts.

Use it and lose it!

2) Use the right recovery pace in your interval training

The biggest mistake people make in interval training is working too hard during the recovery period.

If you continue to work at a hard pace when you should be almost resting, you wont get the true benefits of interval training.

So lose the cardio mentality and be sure to alternate between periods of harder than normal exercise, and very easy exercise.

If you don't know about interval training, here is how it goes.

Start with your normal warmup. Let's say walking at 3.0mph on the treadmill. Do this for five minutes, and then increase the speed to 3.8mph (a fast walk). Do this for 30-60 seconds (as long as you are comfortable doing it - don't do it if you feel that is too fast for you).

Drop the intensity way back to three miles per hour.0mph for 60-90 seconds. That is one interval. Go back and forth between working hard and going easy for 3-6 rounds. Then finish with a 5-minute cool-down.

Use the recovery period to recover!

3) Plan your food intake on the weekend

Set aside time to plan, shop, and prepare several days worth of meals. Use a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to cook some chicken breasts, prepare some raw vegetables, wash your fruit, and pack up your nuts.

A little bit of knowledge can go a long way.

Its that easy.

Use interval training in your fat burning workout and bodyweight exercises to sculpt your body.

Alcohol and Fat Loss

"Can I drink Alcohol while I'm trying to lose weight?"

or

"How much Alcohol is it OK to drink while I'm trying to lose weight?"

This is a common question that many people have when trying to lose weight.

And in many cases we want to "have our cake and eat it too."

Right?

I mean, there is really nothing wrong with that but when you're trying to make progress it's important that you recognize the facts when it comes to how alcohol effects your fat loss efforts.

Now here's the bottom line: one or two drinks a couple of nights a week is not going to stop you from making progress.

But if you are very serious about making progress I would ask you to consider why you even want to partake in that.

For example, if I was coaching you personally and you came to me and said that you want to make maximum progress in minimum time then I would suggest you limit drinking to once a week. (or zero if you can manage that.)

Here's why:

1) Alcohol is loaded with empty calories. These are carbohydrates that are ultimately going to turn into fat.

You might see some advertisement for some "ultra-light" beers with only 99 calories. Well, that's still 99 calories!

Drink 2 or 3 and you just put 200-300 empty calories in your body.

2) Alcohol sparks your appetite and makes you crave the foods you shouldn't be eating.

OK, let's say you decide to have a glass of wine with dinner. On paper this is no big deal. But in REALITY what actually happens?

First of all this makes you hungrier and you may begin to have serious cravings for foods you shouldn't be eating like processed carbohydrates (pasta, french fries) Personally, when I consume alcohol I crave fast food. Come to think of it, I crave anything!

3) Alcohol DESTROYS your momentum.

This is really the worst part. If you want to breakthrough a fat loss plateau then momentum is absolutely critical. If you want to stop yourself from ever getting momentum then by all means drink regularly.

Let's be honest: what normally happens when you drink Alcohol and end up overeating?

Do you feel on track the next day? Personally, I've noticed the effects last through the next day. So the point is to see the total outcome that drinking will have.

Now keep in mind that I'm writing this article to help you lose maximum fat in minimum time. Once you achieve your goals then you can figure out "what you can get away with." As far as I'm concerned there's nothing wrong with that.

For the time being try this: one night a week drink as much as you want. One drink, 3 drinks, five drinks, whatever (as long as your safe).

So if you drink on a Saturday night then you can simply relax on Sunday and it might even be a great time to give yourself some leeway in your diet. Enjoy yourself Saturday night and most of the day Sunday.

If this sounds too "extreme" for you and you can't go without drinking most nights that's fine, you can still make progress but you want come anywhere close to the progress you could make.

Ask yourself, "How much do I really want to lose fat?" "How much do I want to drink every night of the week"

The answers could be very telling.

The Detox Diet: Harmful or Helpful?

What, exactly, is a detox diet? As described by several sources, a detox diet is a nutritional regimen that involves changing bad eating and drinking habits in order to cleanse the body of toxins and other contaminants. A detox has become quite the thing to do these days, and many claim that completing a detox can improve overall health and digestion as well as to heighten resistance to illness and help in weight control. All of the above can be accomplished with good, nutritious eating habits and healthy living styles, but we seem to want to do everything the hard way; hence a detox diet becomes necessary to bring us back to the point where we should have been anyway.

A detox diet can be comprised of many different methodologies. Some people prefer to fast, and only drink water or juice for a certain period of time. Others prefer to increase the amount of fish they eat. Others restrict the amount of calories they consume while others resort to bottled methods like an herbal detox diet. Some even go on a lemonade diet that is more commonly known as the Master Cleanse detox diet.

It stands to reason that any detox diet must be carefully monitored to ensure proper ingestion of nutritious foods, and many merely suggest that a person add more fruits and vegetables to their diet. Of course, staying away from fast food and soda, cigarettes and alcohol is a given. A detox diet is all about changing eating habits and adopting healthy and nutritiously balanced diets and foregoing McDonald's and Taco Bell offerings. It has become a fad to call anything that offers such a drastic change in eating or drinking habits a detox diet.

Still, some argue that the body is already more than capable of ridding itself of toxic wastes and that a detox diet is not only unnecessary but can also be dangerous. Our bodies are meant to contain a certain amount of fats and sugars, and to try to rid the body of these items with a detox diet can cause medical problems such as anemia, low blood sugar and lethargy and weakness. The balance of electrolytes, fats, enzymes, proteins, and carbohydrates in the body are finely tuned and shouldn't be tampered with. A detox diet that allows only liquid is not to be considered a safe alternative to exercise and a normal, well balanced diet. Studies have shown that the lack of protein in most of the more common types of detox diet decreases muscle mass in individuals. With less muscle mass, the metabolism automatically slows down, which will threaten most well-intentioned weight loss diets regardless of what you do.

Call it what you will. While a detox diet can help people learn new and better eating habits, as with everything, a detox diet should be done using caution and good judgment. Perhaps we could avoid all this unnecessary detox diet stuff by just eating better and exercising more in the first place.

Weight Loss Supplements Part 1, How Effective They Truly Are

People who suffer from overweight are always looking for new and innovative ways to lose some pounds, mostly because they have already tried working out, following different diets, etcetera; but nothing seems to truly work. Some people might follow a few diets and exercise regularly, but the results can always be improved, the amount of time it takes to lose weight can always be reduced. One great way that people believe in when trying to accomplish this goal, is by ingesting different weight loss supplements, and in the next few lines youll learn about their actual efficiency.

There is a wide variety of substances which are supposed to be very useful for people trying to lose some weight, these substances include: caffeine, green tea, ephedrine, linoleic acid, and others; whether they work or not is about to be revealed.

Let us begin with caffeine; for years people have believe that caffeine is probably one of the best weight loss supplements, and the reason why people believe this is because caffeine speeds up the metabolism of those that consume it regularly. It is a fact that people who consume caffeine will lose weight faster than those who never consume it. The only problem with weight loss supplements that are based on caffeine relies on the fact that most people are already used to ingest caffeine on a frequent basis, and will gain little benefits from increasing the amount of this weight loss supplement in their diet.

Now, about green tea; there are really few drinks out there that have more miraculous properties than green tea, its seems that green tea is the cure for every single problem possibly suffered by mankind, and now we are going to discuss its efficiency within the weight loss supplements family. First of all green tea will quicken your metabolism, it will also reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood, it will get rid of the fat you already have and it will allow you not to absorb further fat in the future. So, overall we can say that green tea is, from every single weight loss supplement, the best; not only because it provides plenty of different weight losing characteristics, but also because it has no side effects.

Stay tuned for the next part of this article when well discuss other weight loss supplements and make an overall synthesis of what works and what doesnt work when trying to lose weight.

Teen Obesity

Obesity is not a condition where an individual is simply eating too much. Obesity is now acknowledged as a grave disease that is chronic. It is prevalent in all regions of the world without any race, gender, or ethnicity bias. However, it is seen to be more widespread in developed countries; in the United States, it has assumed alarming proportions. It is saddening to note that there has also been a rise in case of teen obesity in the country.

In just two decades, the percent of obese teens has almost tripled. Almost fifteen percent more teens border between being overweight and obese. Obesity is found to be a common eating disorder in teenagers and adolescents, as they generally do not follow a proper eating schedule and prefer ready-made food to the home cooked healthier food.

Manifestation of health problems due to obesity is lesser in teens than in adults. However, overweight teens are at high risk of becoming overweight adults. Hence, it is important to nip the problem in the bud itself and ensure that steps are taken to lessen obesity, and make them slimmer and healthier.

Obesity in teens is found to result in weakening of their physical health, making them lethargic and restricted to indoor activities. It also leads to social disability, loneliness, and unhappiness. They are generally found to be without friends and find it difficult to make new associations. Weight problem typically weighs at the back of their mind, which makes them introverts. This makes the teen stressed and leads to severe complications such as stress and mental illness. Studies have shown that obese teens are prone to physical bullying as both victims and perpetrators, which could lead to serious mental complications in adult life.

It is important for teenagers to develop a personal identity and positive body image. Hence, it is advisable to talk to trusted adults for working out a schedule to reduce excess weight.

Cardio Increases Appetite

Does aerobic training burn fat? It should, but why are so many people still overweight, no matter how much long slow exercise they do? Cardio exercise is such a strange thing. In theory, it should work so perfectly well for all men and women, but as anyone who has tried it knows, the practicality of it just doesn't add up.

After all, some men and women do cardio 6 hours, 9 hours, or more per week, and still have belly fat to burn. On the other hand, it works just fine for others. And you know who it works best for? Young, fit males. The guys who don't need any help! Young guys can workout all day long, they have nothing else to do. The guys who have a fast metabolism, exercise a lot, and have plenty of muscle.

It works for them, but does it work for you? Probably not. British researchers wanted to get more insight into this paradox, and studied 35 overweight men and women, who weren't previously exercising.

(Reference: International Journal of Obesity 32: 177-184, 2008).

Subjects exercised 5 times per week for 12 weeks. That's a lot of exercise, but it helped the subjects lose an average of 8.You should lose a lot of weight with cardio - if it worked. So cardio will work for some people, however, in my experience, it works best in young men, who need the help the least!

Back to the study, the variance in fat loss between individuals was huge. Check this out...

The best subject lost a staggering 32.3 pounds in 12 weeks, while the worst subject actually GAINED 3.74 pounds. The scientists think they know where things went sour. They classified the subjects into 2 groups, called the "Compensators" and the "Non-compensators".

The Compensators were hungrier, and as a result consumed an extra 268 calories per day, all but wiping out their cardio efforts. Therefore, the Compensators lost the least amount of weight, and scientists believe that was due to the huge "compensatory" increase in appetite experienced by this group.

Does your appetite increase when you do slow cardio? Cardio might increase your appetite.

So if your cardio program is not working for you, check your appetite and calorie intake to see if you are "compensating" for your efforts. If you are, you might be better off using a program of high-intensity resistance and interval training (i.e. Turbulence Training) for your weight loss efforts.

Researchers have proven intervals burn fat. And increased catecholamines can reduce appetite, among other fat- burning benefits. In the real world, few people lose 33 pounds after 12 weeks of cardio. Heck, few even achieve an average weight loss of 8 pounds with aerobic exercise.

So again, check your appetite, and consider giving high-intensity exercise a go for your next workout program. Beat the curse of cardio with high-intensity fat burning workouts that don't use cardio.

Discover the cardio-free fat burning workouts and the bodyweight exercises that burn belly fat.

Trying To Find Out The "Secrets" To Losing Weight? Well, It's Your Lucky Day Because They Are About

The main reason which prevents people from losing weight is ENDLESS procrastination. Most people tell themselves that they'll begin dieting "next week" or "after some future holiday" (or some other excuse) and that let's them procrastinate even further. The truth is that it doesn't matter what month it is, and it doesn't matter what time of year it is either, since it's foolish to wait until a particular month to get slim. Why would you want to remain overweight until some future month or time of year? Getting slim allows you to wear more attractive and better fitting clothes right now... and that feeling is very worthwhile. Every journey begins with taking that first step, and if you never take that first step then you'll never have a thinner and more attractive body. So, with that being said, let's get started.

Secret Number One
Develop a Routine- be organized- develop a routine for eating right. Consistency is important to your success.
2) Get Active- Making exercise a regular part of your life is a valuable part of any weight-loss program. Choose activities you enjoy that you can do consistently.
3) Be realistic about what you can do- it is very important to be consistent.
4) You don't need to do it all at once. Consider adding a little more activity to things you already do. For example, park at the end of the lot and walk a little farther. Using a pedometer can be a handy way to track how far you walk.
5) Start small and work your way up. Three times a week is a good start. Even a little more activity supports your weight-loss goals.
6) Set Goals and plan what you'll do, where you'll do it, and how much- Keep track of your exercise progress.
7) Speak with your doctor. Before you start a new exercise program, you should check with your doctor.
8) Stick to your Program- Healthy eating is a matter of replacing bad habits with good ones. And no habit is broken overnight. Don't expect to follow your program perfectly everyday.
9) Have a Plan for Staying on Track- Sometimes you can't avoid temptation, but you can have a plan for dealing with it. Pay attention to what triggers you to eat, like a situation or a person, and have a plan for how to handle those triggers. Knowing what to expect can help you avoid slip-ups.
10) Accept the occasional slip-up. Just remember that weight control isn't like tightrope-walking, where one slip means you're finished. Accept that slips are going to happen.
11) If you do slip, focus on what you could do differently next time. Try to understand what led to the slip-up, and how you might break the cycle next time.
12) Give yourself lots of small rewards for making regular progress.

Nutrition Q'n'A

Q: How bad are French Fries?

Answer:I think the best description for French Fries is 'edible cancer sticks'. However, unlike the original cancer sticks (cigarettes), French Fries make you gain weight.

According to my friend Jon Herring at ETR.com, we should also stay away from potato chips, baked cereals, taco shells, crackers, cookies, etc. Each of these contains simple carbohydrates and deadly trans-fats.

Q: When you recommend eating more vegetables, what do you mean, can I have an example? Anything specifically?

Answer:Vegetables help fill you up and reduce your appetite. They also help control your blood sugar and insulin levels. These are essential factors in helping you lose body fat and having more weight loss.

At each meal, eat 1 cup of one of these vegetables. Try to eat a variety of vegetables every day.broccoli
cauliflower ,br>spinach
field greens
green beans
asparagus
peas
brussel sprouts
etc.

Q: What goes into the garden salad?

Answer:Field greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, peppers, onions, perhaps some strawberries, and a small amount of cheese or nuts. Make sure the added cheese and nuts fits into your recommended daily calorie plan. You can also throw in a chicken breast or salmon fillet to get your protein source this way.

Remember that we are going for a salad or serving of fibrous vegetables prior to or with each meal.

Q: How much extra virgin olive oil do you use?

Answer:1-2 teaspoons. Just drizzle on just enough to enhance the salad. Really, the whole key here is to retrain your taste buds to appreciate REAL food again (and say goodbye to the sugar, salt, and trans-fat of the Western Lifestyle).

Fresh produce is amazing when you can get quality produce (which really shouldn't be hard). I want everyone to aim to make small improvements in their vegetable intake on a daily or weekly basis, especially if you say "Eww" to the list above.

Q: What type of protein bar should I eat, thought they were bad?

Answer:Anything that is low-sugar and tastes good. If nothing meets these standards, then consider homemade protein bars (search for the recipes on google), or try to find nitrate-free meat sticks/meat products. Alternatively, any high protein snack will do.

I use organic beef jerkey as a portable protein snack.

Q: Is a post-workout drink containing simple carbohydrates and protein the best for a post workout shake? Or should I just have protein?

Answer:Dr. Chris Mohr recommends carbohydrate and protein after a workout. You can easily get this in chocolate milk, or from fruit and a protein shake.

I am on a trend to avoid high-glycemic liquid sugar sources with my clients, and so far, the results are turning out to be great.
